End of Life Care

Every person deserves to approach the end of his or her life in a humane and dignified way. Dr. Jan Zislis will be your advocate, providing advice, alternatives, and a comfortable process for end of life care.

Although the term can be confusing, “end of life care” refers not only to the health care of patients in the final hours or days of their lives, but also more broadly to the care of all those with a terminal illness or terminal condition that is becoming more advanced, progressive, and incurable.

In the final stages of a life-limiting illness, it can become evident that in spite of the best care, attention, and treatment, your loved one is approaching the end of his or her life. The patient’s health care continues during this time, although the focus shifts to making the patient as comfortable as possible.
Whether you have received the news that you are approaching the end of your life, or you have learned that a loved one is facing this challenge, it is normal to feel anxious, depressed, and overwhelmed. A full end of life care plan will focus on providing the best care possible, coordinating with specialists such as hospice and home nurses, and working through the decisions that must be made. Dr. Zislis takes a holistic approach, caring for both the patient and the caregiver, and providing professional advice on how to proceed through each stage of the end of life.
